Lipidologists manage the fats (lipids) in our blood, working with your primary care provider and cardiologist to treat high levels of lipids and reduce the possibility of complications caused by high cholesterol and triglycerides.
Elevated low-density lipids (LDL), the "bad cholesterol," can build up on artery walls over time, raising the risk of heart attacks or stroke. Another risk factor is elevated triglycerides that can contribute to hardening of the arteries and inflammation of the pancreas.
